Communication Skill

It's How You Tell It!

It is a widely held belief that communication is only 10% what you say and 90% how you say it. Getting your message across in a clear, concise manner is paramount to you achieving the right result. In a world of emails and text messaging we spend a lot less time in face to face contact or on the telephone with clients, employees, family, friends and associates, opting instead for (sometimes hiding behind) the WRITTEN WORD. Whatever method of communication you choose; getting your point across is still very much the case of ‘How You Say It!’

A ‘Moral’ Dilemma

Yesterday, I read with great interest, an article by Adam Galinsky on “ 'Moral Hypocrisy' In Powerful People " The article gave us a sneak preview of the findings of research studies conducted by Joris Lammers and Diederik A.

Stapel of Tilburg University in the Netherlands, and by Adam Galinsky of the Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University in Evanston, Ill.

A Tribute to Jim Rohn

(September 17, 1930 - December 5, 2009)

Jim Rohn was considered the greatest motivational speaker in the world. He was a millionaire, entrepreneur and businessman who was devoted to helping others achieve all they are capable of in life and business. I was introduced to Jim Rohn, author of more than 17 books, audio and video programs some seven years ago. I spent countless hours on my long journeys to and from work listening to and being inspired by many of his wonderfully inspirational recordings.

Jim has helped to motivate and train a generation of personal development trainers and hundreds of executives from top corporations worldwide.

If you do not know Jim Rohn, it’s not too late. I offer you an introduction by way of a collection of 80 of Jim Rohn quotes below. To me Jim is one of the most influential thinkers of our time. Read, Reflect, Rejoice…

No "I" in TEAM

One Cohesive Unit

Teamwork is extremely important to the success of any team. If you are part of a great team you will know it 100%. Words like Courage, Heart, Initiative, Goals, Wisdom, Excellence, Loyalty, Leadership, Bold, Outstanding, Youthful and Supportive can all easily be associated with a team that first set out to be great and then achieved greatness.

For a team, working as one harmonious unit is the key to success.

The L Factor

Move over "X" Factor and welcome "L" Factor. The "L" is for Likeability. Whether national politics or office politics, it seems that we would do well to know where we score on the likeability scale and how to develop and maintain an excellent rating for life.

The 6th Degree

You could be six degrees or less away from attaining your dream job or winning that big contract. It is all about who you know, and who your friends know, and who their friends know, and so on. Making a viable contact within your industry of interest could only be a few connections away. People generally love helping people.

Delayed success?

Procrastination is the act of procrastinating; putting off or delaying or deferring an action to a later time. If putting it off works for you then by all means procrastinate to your heart’s content.

Live It Large

Many Business Owners talk about the uniqueness of their product or service. Whilst this may get us so far, we have really got to stop and ask ourselves, “Is unique really the only way we would like to be perceived?”

Upsides to the Global Recession

The Economic Trifecta - High Unemployment, Depressed Housing Market and almost Zero Credit has, in some cases, led to the restoration of our faith in society.  Instead of people acting more selfishly as one might expect when times are tough, reports show that we are becoming more aware of our purpose on this fair planet.
